Subj: Flung to the winds again

I've been quiet lately. I've had few adventures to report, and no reason to waste your inbox space. Well, that's all about to change.

I've been offered an extension on my Greenpeace contract, provided I return to Amsterdam for two months to work with the team there. Twist my arm! Fly me to Europe! Pay for a place to stay! Give me good friends and many opportunities to get arrested in the name of goodness and puppies and all things green!

So I'm off to spend autumn in the Netherlands, home of off-the-rack-shopping for people my height. I love it. After a summer in San Francisco, I think I can handle the change.

Leaving is a hard thing. We love that which is comfortable and familiar. And San Francisco is really starting to feel like home. I've got great friends who throw me surprise birthday parties and take me to raves in the wilderness. I've had wonderful evenings in little Moroccan places and seen fabulous burlesque shows featuring gorgeous redheads in giant champagne glasses.

Leaving San Luis was emotionally trying. Leaving for Amsterdam last time was a little easier. This time, the fear and elation are warring with each other. Meeting new friends. Missing old friends. Finding new opportunities.

I'm looking forward to the stroopwafels and Wynand Focking liqueur and fun Australian troublemakers. You can be sure you'll hear all about it.
